Welcome to Goodwater Baptist Church!

We’re glad you found our page, and hope you’ll enjoy learning more about our vision of loving God and others. Our church family is like an amazing pot of vegetable soup: There’s a little bit of everything in it!

Our congregation at Goodwater is made up of members with many different social, cultural, and economical statuses. However, striving towards our common goal of loving Jesus and sharing what He did for us with other people brings us together as a very close, loving family. Just like you can never have too many ingredients in vegetable soup, our family always has room for more!

What to Expect

When you walk into the sanctuary, you are welcome to sit wherever you please. None of us are so attached to our seats that we won’t cheerfully sit elsewhere if needed. You will likely be greeted either by Bro. Ben, our pastor, or another member and may be acknowledged as a visitor during announcements.

Our congregation is a diverse group; we have a variety of ages, cultures, and economic statuses, but we are all bound together by Christ and what He’s done for us. You may see a range of clothing styles; in general, we ask for modesty, and most of our congregation dress in something like business casual for a Sunday morning service, but there is no set dress code. You will be welcomed no matter what.

Our services typically last about 60-90 minutes. Our music is mostly traditional congregational hymns from hymn books led by our music director. All preaching and group leadership uses the King James Version of the Bible since that is what the church has agreed to use for sake of unity and cohesion.

If you have small children, we have a nursery in the foyer. We love having children in the main service, and you may often see Bro. Ben interact with them during the service, but we recognize that sometimes they need to go out. If this is the case, you are welcome to take them to the nursery yourself, where there is a TV set up where you can still watch the service, or there is a group of ladies who take turns with nursery duty. If you’d like to take advantage of this, simply ask any of our ladies so that they can point you to someone on duty.

Find a Sunday School Class

Prior to our worship service, at 11:00 am, small groups of all ages meet at 9:45 am for a time of fellowship, ministry, and Bible study. Our Sunday School classes are friendly, informal Bible studies that cover a range of interesting topics that you can join at any time. If you haven’t been in a small group Bible study before, we try to create a comfortable place for you to grow in your faith and knowledge of God’s Word.

Get to know others, it is hard to get to know people sitting in rows during the worship service. Participating in a small group is a critical step toward feeling connected.
