Meet Our Sunday School Teachers and Leaders

Children Under 7 Years Old

Meeting Place: First Classroom in the Fellowship Hall

Meet Jeri Akridge. Her vision for guiding impressionable children is to instill in them a profound love for God and foster a closer relationship with Him. Through teaching them how to pray, praise through prayer and song, study God’s word, share His message, demonstrate His love through their actions, minister to others, and embrace mission work, Jeri aims to equip these young hearts with a strong spiritual foundation.

Jeri has been teaching Sunday School at Goodwater Baptist Church for the past three years, though she has dedicated over 35 years to spreading God’s word to the next generation. Currently, she utilizes the TEAMKIDS curriculum, which emphasizes learning about God, understanding how to use the Bible, and living for Jesus.

A Note from Jeri
God has blessed me with the opportunity to teach and assist with all age groups, from nursery to young adults, wherever there was a need. My experience spans Sunday School, Discipleship Training, Vacation Bible School, GA/CIA missions, children/youth choir, ladies’ groups, youth Bible drills, and backyard Bible clubs. My journey began decades ago as a teenager, helping and teaching on youth Sundays.

“Middlers” Ages 8 – 11

Meeting Place: Second Classroom in the Family Life Building

Meet ReDana Laird. ReDana is passionate about ensuring her students gain a deeper understanding of the Bible and learn how to apply its teachings in their daily lives. While knowledge is valuable, the wisdom to apply that knowledge is the ultimate goal. For her students, maintaining tender and open hearts to God and His Holy Spirit is essential.

ReDana has been teaching Sunday School intermittently for over 23 years. In addition, she has homeschooled her four children, emphasizing the integration of God’s Word into every aspect of their lives. In her current class, she utilizes the Strong Curriculum from Regular Baptist Press.

Youth Sunday School (12+)

Meeting Place: The classroom in the front of the church foyer

Meet Michele Robinson . Michele is dedicated to helping our youth develop a deep understanding of scripture so they can stand firm in their faith as they face life’s challenges. She prays that by the time they leave her class, they will have strengthened their relationship with the Lord and be well-prepared to enter adulthood with confidence.

Michele has been teaching Sunday School for over 20 years, currently using the Bogart Press: Life After the New Birth curriculum.

A Note from Michele
Teaching has been a significant part of my life, whether in a church Sunday School class or public education. I retired at the end of May 2022 after 26 years of teaching. I hold a degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. My heart has always been drawn to the children and youth of our church, and I hope to inspire them to live lives that glorify the Lord.

Young Adults Sunday School (18+)

Meeting Place: Main Fellowship Hall

Meet Colby Stamm. Colby is the dedicated facilitator of this group, which functions more like an intimate small group rather than a formal Sunday School class. The group members are committed to learning how to practically apply Biblical principles to their daily lives, especially in key areas such as marriage and parenting. This group aims to foster a supportive environment where members can grow spiritually and personally, sharing experiences and insights that enrich their faith journeys.

Currently, the group is studying God gives more grace: walking with God through life’s trials by Tim Valiente.

Middle Adults Sunday School

Meeting Place: Sanctuary foyer classroom

Meet Tony Malone. Tony is the current facilitator of this newly formed group. The group delves into various topics relevant to our age group, using the Bible as our guiding foundation. Functioning more like an intimate small group than a traditional Sunday School class, we emphasize shared learning and mutual support. Although the class has recently begun, our unique approach includes rotating facilitators to lead studies on different topics.

This group primarily uses the KJV Bible and other approved materials to guide our discussions and learning.

A Note from the Group
We are excited to offer a Bible teaching class for individuals aged 40-65, addressing topics that concern us in these times. Our goal is to create a nurturing environment where we can grow in faith and understanding together.

Senior Adults Sunday School

Meeting Place: First Sanctuary Foyer Classroom

Meet Larry Brooks. Larry is committed to helping our class deepen our knowledge and understanding of the Bible, and to apply its teachings in our daily lives. To believe in our hearts and minds that salvation should be the number one priority in our daily lives, to spread the good news of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Larry has led this group for the past two years, focusing on studying the KJV Bible and using Strong’s Dictionary/Concordance to enrich our discussions and learning.

A Note from the Group
Our class gathers every Tuesday at the old Cedar Spot on Hwy 80 for Bible Study followed by lunch. We find great joy in our time together and warmly welcome anyone who wishes to join us on this journey of faith and fellowship.
